Question
What's the difference between the Grow and Scale plans?
Answer
Grow and Scale share many of the same sync capabilities. Product detail updates, pricing, feature tags, order edits, and gift card syncing all work the same on both plans. Scale builds on that foundation for higher-volume merchants who need advanced order routing and hands-on support.
Beyond more SKUs and higher NMV thresholds, the Scale plan adds the following:
Complex order routing
By default, Mortar follows Shopify's order routing. On Scale, Mortar can route orders itself when you need more control than Shopify supports: prioritize fulfillment locations by a set priority order or by distance from the customer, split a line item's quantity across multiple locations, and route orders to specific locations based on their order tags.

Order tags to manage and approve orders
Use order tags to control which orders download to your POS. "Allow only orders with these tags" holds orders back for review before they download; "Ignore orders with these tags" prevents matching orders from downloading at all. Pair these with Shopify Flow to automate fraud-review holds, source-based exclusions, and approval steps.

Unlimited locations
Connect as many store locations as you need under one plan, rather than paying per location.
Personalized onboarding and priority support
A Mortar Implementation Specialist works with you to configure and launch your integration, your support requests move to the front of the queue, and you get a dedicated account manager as a single point of contact who knows your account.
A backorder location — routing line items to a chosen location when no inventory is available — is available on both Grow and Scale. See Complex order routing for details.
Your plan is based on a 90-day trailing average of your monthly Shopify NMV, so a short spike won't move you between plans. See What is NMV? For full plan features and pricing, see usemortar.com/pricing.
