Shopify orders
Lightspeed R-Series handles orders differently than Shopify. Each Lightspeed R-series sale is assigned to a single location. When a Shopify order is fulfilled from multiple locations, Mortar will split the order and create multiple sales in Lightspeed, automatically distributing the line items to the assigned location. Each split of an order will have the Shopify Order # in the Reference # field on the sale, allowing you to easily search for them (see below).
Shopify fulfillments
With Mortar, Lightspeed is the master source for Shopify's Available inventory.
When a line item is fulfilled in Shopify, the Committed quantity in Shopify is removed and subtracted from the Onhand quantity; the Available quantity remains the same. Inventory is credited or debited in Lightspeed when the sale is created in Lightspeed.
Shopify returns
Return transactions from Shopify will create a new return in Lightspeed (R-Series). The return will include all the return details you would expect, like the customer's name, what they returned, the quantity, and how much they paid. The return will be assigned to the restock location in Shopify.
Not for restock or money-only refunds
On returns that are not for restock, or money only, the Shopify Refund product is used to recognize the financials correctly, and inventory is not returned to stock.
Finding Shopify orders and returns in Lightspeed
Search for any Shopify Order using the Order Number (i.e., #1015) in the Lightspeed (R-Series) reference field on the Sales > Total report. Both orders and refunds will appear in your results.
Shopify order edits
After a Shopify order is created, if you accept an exchange or add additional products, Shopify handles this as an edit to the existing Shopify order. Lightspeed does not support editing or updating completed sales. Therefore, new sales are created in Lightspeed when an edit is made to a Shopify order.
Order edit reference numbers
The reference # added to Lightspeed sales from Shopify orders related to an order edit is appended with an "-E00n" (i.e. #52548-E001).

Shopify canceled orders
Canceled orders from Shopify will create a new return in Lightspeed (R-Series). The return will include all the refund details you would expect, like the customer's name, what they returned, the quantity, and how much they paid. The refund will be assigned to the restock location in Shopify.
