Looking up gift cards in Heartland Retail
Updated over a week ago

Requires a Shopify Plus Account for account access to the Shopify gift card API

Overview

Heartland Retail inherently does not associate gift cards with customers.

To facilitate finding Shopify gift cards, Mortar support will create a custom field in Heartland Retail to save gift card serial numbers. Gift card numbers associated with the customer will be added to this custom field.

Step-by-step

  1. Begin by looking up the customer's order history

  2. Check the gift card balance

If the customer has their gift card number available, Heartland's gift card lookup tool can be used to search for gift card serial numbers for gift cards sold on Shopify.

The lookup tool can be found by navigating in Heartland Retail to Sales > Gift Cards > select View completed gift card adjustments.

NOTE: When a Shopify gift card is sold and added to your POS, the shipping name on the Shopify order is attached to the gift card.

Existing gift cards cannot be retroactively associated with customers.

Verifying with multiple gift cards

In cases where your customer has been issued multiple gift cards, you can see the last four digits of the Shopify gift card serial number in the Heartland gift card number.

You can verify the last four digits of the gift card's serial number by using the email your customer received from Shopify Plus.

If the customer does not have their email available, you can check Shopify's gift card Lookup by navigating in Shopify to Products > Gift Cards. Search by customer name, or last four of the Shopify gift card serial number.
